Why were these people confirmed in the first place? There is a cancer on the heart of the presidency, to quote from the Watergate era, and it’s infecting all of us. joycevance.substack.com/p/what-will-...

1/ For many Americans, deporting violent gang members will sound like a good idea, constitutional niceties be damned. They are the perfect group of people for a government test case. joycevance.substack.com/p/deportatio...

If the Supreme Court ultimately agrees with what the gov't is arguing today, that the President has broad Article II powers that would permit it to deport people & there can be no judicial review, then literally no one is safe.

Actually no. There are no questions about this. A court order is a court order.

So where, exactly, do Dems draw the line?
A shutdown would give Donald Trump the keys to the city, state, and country.

Musk has said he wants a shutdown, and reporting has shown he is already making plans to use the shutdown to expedite his destruction of key government programs and services.

But to me, this budget vote was where Dems *had* to draw the line. (As argued yesterday, below.)

‘The Only Practical Check That’s Left Is the Power of the Purse.’
In the baffling haze of dealing with ‘everything, all the time,' a few clear signals of where to take a stand. Let's start with Democrats all voting NO on a blank check for Elon Musk.

AOC: It is almost unthinkable why Senate Democrats would vote to to hand the few pieces of leverage that we have away for free when we've been sent here to protect social security, protect medicaid, and protect medicare.

The stock market is not the economy. The stock market is not the economy. The stock market is not the economy.

Nonetheless, holy shit.

What’s remarkable is that there’s hardly any real news driving this. It’s just investors belatedly realizing that Trump is who he is, and always was.

Newt Gingrich says the "McKinley Model" requires high tariffs over a three-year transition period.

Notable: Three years after the 1890 McKinley tariff, the economy had fallen into a severe depression. The GDP shrank by 10% and unemployment hit 18%. Certainly not the economic model I'd be copying. 😳
