First walk of 2026 to one of my favourite places. Wishing anyone who reads this Happy New Year.

All the best for 2026. Wishing you many more sunny sea views!

I thought it might have been an oblique reference to this restaurant in Plymouth.

Movie you've watched more than 6 times with a gif. No Star Wars or Trek, Marvel or LOTR

Chilly up at Moorswater today, but worth it for the light when sun came out from behind the clouds.

...and then at Dawlish.

Great Western's few surviving Castle HST sets have only a couple of weeks left in service, so I made the most of the sun and went out to take photos. First near Ivybridge...

The first few Warships were built with frames for reporting numbers and headcode discs, and were later modified to match the later members of the class.

I remember this illustration very well! The Story of Railways was one of my favourite books growing up.

Another nice sunset this evening. The last for a while, I fear, looking at the weather forecast.

This baby oil tanker, which is scampering playfully around the harbour. Meanwhile its mother keeps a careful watch for predators.

An enjoyable afternoon jaunt on the motorbike today to visit two of my favourite bridges.

My first car was one of these. Its big squashy seats and soft suspension would be perfect for today's potholed nightmare roads. A blower which produced much more noise than warm air and very heavy steering, less so. After 3 happy years I sold it for a Peugeot 305 which I hated.

A breezy and damp evening on the Barbican, Plymouth, but a scenic one nonetheless.

Saw Midge Ure at Princess Theatre Torquay last night, performing a hits set. Had almost forgotten what absolute bangers some of Ultravox's lesser known songs are (eg The Voice, We all Stood Still), never mind Vienna! Thanks to my brother for finding the gig, and doing the driving on a foul night.
