Breaking: The Trevor Project received a stop-work order last night on its contract with the national 988 suicide prevention hotline. The Trump administration is eliminating the option for LGBTQ callers to the hotline to press 3 and connect with someone who specializes in LGBTQ mental health.

This thread, folks. Lotta really important insights in here.

The thread sort of splits in a hard to follow way (technical not intellectual) so I’ll post part 2 below this. When you get to what seems to be the bottom go to part 2.
Pope Leo's first sermon and, uh, his using the phrase "be ever more fully a city set upon a hill" and cf'ing it to Rev 21:10 instead of any of the others before saying "many baptized Christians" are "living in a state of practical atheism" is. Well. Shots fired!

People who are willing to say: the line has been crossed, and I refuse to be complacent.

Some can afford to be public, like this person—brava—and some throw sand in the gears quietly.

But for those who can, we must lift up.
Tonight, hours after the Paul Weiss news broke, an associate at Skadden Arps sent a firm-wide email:

"Please consider this email my two week notice, revocable if the firm comes up with a satisfactory response to the current moment...We do not have time. It is now or it is never..."

Just as my heart tightens reading the news, nature reminds me that light and love are always pouring into the world. And just like that, I can breathe again. Stay grounded, friends.

Why practices to connect us with our own humanity, each other, & perhaps something bigger, really matter now—

And can help keep us more whole, less responding on their terms & more on our own, more making choices as the people we wish to be.
