In a SCOTUS brief opposing the recognition of transgender personhood as a protected class, the LDS church states that such protection could restrict its ability to enforce faith-based policies.

At least six Historically Black Colleges and Universities feel it necessary to go under lockdown because rival factions of a White Supremacist political cult are violently feuding with each other.

Let that statement sink in.

It's strange that the Republicans who have offered Thoughts and Prayers™ in response to school shootings haven't offered Thoughts and Prayers™ in response to Charlie Kirk's shooting but are instead demanding action.

Anti-Vax logic applied to drunk driving:

"I don't need to drive sober. If drunk driving is so bad, why haven't I died or killed someone? Shouldn't I have? Oh, that's right, since I drive drunk, other drivers' sobriety doesn't matter. Sober driving is a hoax. My body, my choice"

Few people realize that the Second Amendment was ratified less than four months after the start of the Haitian Revolution.

Historians have plausibly argued that the 2nd Amendment was intended to help White farmers violently put down slave revolts.
Historian Uncovers The Racist Roots Of The 2nd Amendment
Carol Anderson says the Second Amendment was designed to ensure slave owners could quickly crush any rebellion or resistance from those they'd enslaved. Her new book is The Second.

"Armed minorities are harder to oppress" is a curious thing to say in a heavily armed society where minorities are regularly oppressed through incarceration, carceral enslavement, police shooting, financial predation, disenfranchisement, segregation, ethnic cleansing, and concentrated encampment.

Every time there's a spree-shooting, gun fetishists reflexively argue that spree-killers would find another way if we restricted guns.

The US's non-epidemic of spree-stabbings, spree-battings, spree-hammerings, spree-bombings, spree-poisonings, and spree-chainsawings demonstrates otherwise.

Is the below quote from Hitler or Trump?

"We do not tolerate anyone in our ranks who offends the ideas of Christianity."

It's from Hitler¹, but its seeming consistenct with Trump's "anti-Christian bias" fad speaks to our political milieu.

Trump in 2016:
"No leader, especially a religious leader, has the right to question another man’s religion or faith"¹

Also Trump in 2016:
"How can Ted Cruz be an Evangelical Christian when he lies so much and is so dishonest?"²

Trump in 2020: Joe Biden is "against God".³

Trump is insincere.

Anybody who is familiar with the Mutant Registration Act from the X-Men universe should understand why RFK's national registry of autistic people is troubling.

Will you please consider making a prequel to Cocaine Bear called Smite Bears, based on 2 Kings 2:23-25, wherein two female bears go on a rampage and maul 42 boys who mocked Elisha for being bald?

This would make a great horror movie!
What’s up with Elisha & the she-bears?

Given that the UK Supreme Court has legally erased transgender personhood, will it now compel JK Rowling to republish the novels she penned as Robert Galbraith using her real name?
April 16, 2025 at 4:11 PM
It seems like now would be a good time for the Supreme Court to explicitly affirm that detainments and deportations that involve neither warrants nor due process are unlawful orders, and that they will refuse to uphold the conviction of any government agent who refuses to obey such an order.

In the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, Satan is recorded as tempting Jesus with the love of power. On a strictly literary level, it seems prudent to thank Satan for helping society identify an early means test for fascism. (Not that we've been good at applying this means test, of course).

He won't because he's fundamentally unjust.

You know a country is going wrong when the penalty for the not-a-crime of washing your hands in your gender's bathroom is greater than the definitely-a-crime of participating in an seditious domestic terrorist attack against the capitol building.

Banishing an innocent man to an overseas gulag isn't an "administrative error" when you're targeting people on the basis of their race and nationality; that is a policy error.

Some people were too proud to join us when they thought we were wrong, then too ashamed to not join us when they realized we were right, and are now too proud to admit they were wrong.

Their egotistical solidarity is not genuine.

You may think your citizenship protects you from ICEtapo kidnappings and disappearings; citizens aren't being arrested, detained, and expelled without due process, you might be saying.

But what's keeping the ICEtapo from disputing your citizenship's validity? The Trump-controlled State Department?
