We convert vehicles to electric power. We focus on older vehicles and reusing components bound for scrap yards.

Located in Hawai'i, US. A veteran-owned small business
With growing renewable power generation, your electric conversion relies less and less on fossil fuels!

Contact ReRides EV for a free consultation to convert your favorite ride!
“We’re living through the fastest energy transformation in human history. Every previous large-scale shift in energy—from muscle power to wood to coal to oil—has taken decades or even longer. But the ‘renewable revolution’ is happening far faster.”
Climate action can feel slow – but the fastest energy leap in history has begun
Weaning ourselves off fossil fuels is glacially slow – isn’t it? This pessimistic narrative doesn’t stack up against evidence of very rapid change in the real world.

We help make your EV dream come true! Find out why 92% of EV owners buy another by converting your dream car to electric! The 4x4 from Back to the Future? The Porsche Speedster from Top Gun? We can do it for you!
Nearly 92% of electric vehicle drivers would buy one again because they save money and cut pollution.

Clean cars are winning on cost, performance, and public health 🚘

AI graphed some gear ratios for us. FrontiEV has 31inch tires and not expected to ever see 80 mph. These ratios seem readily available. With 200k on the trans, trying to keep RPMs below 7000. Hardbodies have 4.11 and same axle codes!

My brother came to visit so we took him and his wife for a little ride into Haleiwa town!

It's been a while so here's an overview of where our FrontiEV build is today. The interior is buttoned up and all wire leads for Arduino control of dash and HVAC are in place. Nothing has changed in the engine bay or bed, but we take a look anyway!

About to install the Arduino and relays for testing of HVAC system. AC hoses need to be modified before getting results. Code for the AC module, heater module, and main Arduino run file are posted!

Getting controls assembled for the heater. We've removed the whole control assembly and have attached a sliding potentiometer from @dfrobot_official. We're using some insulation trimmings glued to the sliding cable actuator to connect the pot.

Physically, things look good! We'll see about the code!

A bit late, but an earlier post on the radiator situation that I missed. I had some nice silicone elbow reducers for the Frontier radiator to the Leaf pump and motor. And then found a radiator leak.

Radiators to choose from as a replacement. A little trim to a Leaf one and it's mounted okay!

Would you believe this? Nissan did not put cabin air filters in the early Frontiers and Xterras. You have to cut out a hole and install them yourself. Napa filter 224856 comes with instructions, but doesn't say anything about cutting a hole!

I'm trying to grab those nubs and pull out solid plastic!

A/C compressor is mounted and in position. This is from the 2023 donor with 3 wires. Supposedly it is controlled with LIN protocol, but I expected 4 wires: 12v, gnd, Tx, Rx. We have a 2014 with 4 wires as backup.

Clearance is good, just need to extend the HV cables and get hoses fitted!

Even though the bracket has the holes slightly off, it is close enough to make it work. Pics here are 97% complete. Last step is an access door mounted to the grill.

Resolve-EV controller does not support CHAdeMO charging on the gen3 Leafs right no. We'll mount receptacle if that changes

The mounting bracket for J1772 receptacle could have used a little more design thought. 2 of 3 mounting holes lined up to the truck and there is a little interference with the hood. I must have written or measured wrong (twice!).

I'm looking for platforms to share on... github or GrabCAD? Vote!

First almost-from-scratch CAD design for a Leaf AC compressor mount. Made from a 3D scan found in GrabCAD and imported into OnShape. The file is a mess, but the product is perfect!

Holes line up with older and newer Leaf compressors, just keep the newer adapter bracket! Pics include both

We are coding! #FrontiEV will have an Arduino installed to control some systems and instruments. Mostly convinced this will work! Trying hard for strong object-oriented programming to allow reuse by everyone.

We are sharing code under GPL on github. Check it out!

Also from Toggl, we use Plan to map out our time estimates, task status, and dependencies. Can view over various time scales, individually or group. Projects sync with Track, and tasks are supposed to. We've seen mixed success. Both are free with paid tiers of functionality.

No promotion, just sharing. We've been tracking different aspects of the FrontiEV build with an app from Toggl called Track. Free version can align activity by project/client, makes reports, both web and mobile. It also integrates with their Plan app, which we'll post next.

Cooling system is complete now that I've received elbow reducer segments. The only problem is, there's a big leak in the radiator! So close!

With the charger plugged in, battery is getting a charge and water pump is cycling the water. It's a mess...

I've gotten started on HVAC. The heating element is a preheated from VW Golf. It has three 12v that I will run through relays direct to the original Leaf fuses. I'm going to try and control relays from the Arduino. We'll see!

Already posted a video, but here are still pics from the Leaf shifter mod. Reed switches and magnets are glued in place. They provide momentary contact for D and R for the Resolve-EV controller. The parking button already works for N but check which 2 of 3 wires provide continuity
