Just a reminder that if you have any food writing you're proud of that came out in 2023--and that includes a newsletter or weird little blog--to submit it to the Best American Food Writing! Full submission guidelines here media.sailthru.com/composer/ima...

Can you not direct message people on here??? Is that not an option? Or am I just not capable of finding out how to?

How often do you think you should update your author photo? I got mine done about three or four years ago and I love them, but I feel like I just don't look like that anymore.

Small reminder that it is legal and in some states, even encouraged to buy my little chapbook: www.bullshitlit.com/product-page...

the bluesky codes should work like vampires. Like if I delete my account, everyone I gave the code to also gets deleted.

All the books I don’t buy, I 10/10 request that my library buy and then I check them out; we all have $$$ and space limits but I love and support y’all
This is your evergreen reminder that you can support your writer friends (even if you're not into the kind of books they write) by asking your local public library to purchase their books. I can't speak for all writers, but I love libraries & love having my books in them!

Every state deserves a pepperoni roll style meal. It should be a god given right to have a full meal you can hold in your hand and costs under $5 at a gas station.

I am known as a late-stage adaptor, meaning I will maybe never get Tik Tok, won't watch Stranger Things until 2030, and be calling it twitter for another five years and beyond.

I'm so happy for the people that are like "I'm not getting a new social media, I'm just going to get more offline." Good for them. I, however, sold my soul to the devil when I first discovered the neopets chat forums in 3rd grade. I am like Sisaphys, bound to this online hell.

Literally what do people call these things? Not tweets, right? Are they clouds? Jet engine noises? Screams? Someone tell me I am embarrassed not to know

can't overstate the good it did for indie presses circa 2019-2023. readers and reviewers heard about our books and i connected with other publishers and survived the seemingly total collapse of our industry in 2020 when stores and libraries all closed. absolutely life-changing.
For a lot of us, losing Twitter isn’t really about losing ties to the company itself. It’s losing 10+ years of real, asynchronous communities, professional development, the ability to get gigs and clients, the ability to promo/share your art on an extremely broad scale. The loss of that has impact.
