#bbcaq question on triple lock is just inane - ‘It’s only going to keep going up; is it sustainable?’ If I move from buying 2 coffees every week to 3 because I know I can afford it, would I stop because I can’t afford 30?

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Pisspoor interviews on #r4today; David Yelland speaking in code and refusing to say clearly what he thinks actually happened, Charles Moore clearly realising he sounds absolutely crackers and unable to respond to even mild pushback

Amazing that Labour’s approach to the start of its conference in Liverpool is to do publicity in the Sun.

Consent manufacturing machine absolutely flying on #r4today. In 5 minutes, the Gaza marches were equivalent to Tommy Robinson’s demo this weekend; the left is shutting down debate on transgenderism, Elon Musk isn’t promoting any kind of right wing violence. Chapeau to all involved!

Charlie Kirk: Young fans and critics debate his political legacy - BBC News

The BBC, whether it’s here, #r4today, or #bbcpm, happy to paint Kirk as ‘polarising’. The poles are, of course, ‘He wanted us dead!’ and ‘I think black/LGBTQ+ people/women should be dead and I’m sad now!’

In the context of @postoctobrist.bsky.social ‘s story about Reeves and the hen do this is just… just brutal watching

The impact of taxing ISAs will be that people will be pushed into higher-risk savings vehicles or just not saving at all. The whole point of a tax-free wrapper is to incentivise saving to ensure the state isn't forced to support people later in life.

In 2010 50,000 people turned out to protest tuition fee increases. Feels blackpilled but the ghouls in government just don’t give a monkey’s - it’s the bond market that got Trump to volte-face this week
BREAKING: 36k people showed up in LA for Bernie and AOC’s rally. In the off year.

Americans are pissed — and anyone ignoring that is making a big mistake.

Must have watched a different Parasite
Saw Mickey 17 last night. Robert Pattinson is terrific in sadness and bafflement as the 3D-printed human who keeps dying, but (in common with critics) the last half-hour is a real wash. The satire in general is not subtle (Trump, Musk etc), which is disappointing from Parasite's director.

Very deft interview by UK head of Palantir on #r4today - completely ignoring actual questions and just using the airtime for marketing slogans. Media getting completely played.

The US being bad. Just imagine it.
It’s a coup. It’s a strategic alliance with Putin. It’s the end of the post-war international order. It’s the triumph of lies over truth and in Putin’s case, evil over good. We are through the looking glass & we all now have to decide who we are & what we stand for

Massive disappointment for fans of the sport (not to mention snowsports and others). Galling too to see commentators roped in to defend what is basically a massive cash grab from Warner - although difficult to say I'll miss Rob Hatch's pronounciations.
Big news for UK cycling fans overnight.

Can’t wait to hear how they started anointing Tom Holland with oil only to run up against the scarlet ‘M’ they brand you with on Marvel films

The smugness of it in response to an article documenting a forecast rise in relative poverty…
But... it has raises taxes on the rich. There were protests with big tractors. Separate to the government's genuinely cackhandedness, it does face a problem that people are responding to the version of it that exists in their heads
