Sky used to have a big office in Leeds Dock which brought a load of footfall, hundreds of employees. They were looking to expand at one point. But they moved out after covid because of some rather entertaining goings-on with the buildings, and it doesn't seem to have recovered.

I want to give it a hat. If it ever takes the hat off, it logs the operator out immediately and sits itself on the floor. Doubles as a handy NOPE option for people nearby.

I don't think this is right - not that what you describe is wrong, but it leaves out people whose only option is travel at peak times who are currently priced off entirely and use a different mode. They'd be new passengers as part of the peak overcrowding (which still pushes others off-peak)

Not just inflation, but raw population size too. That a growing population both costs more to service and pays a bigger tax bill even if nothing else changes shouldn't be a surprise, and yet...

While it might not quite be true to the original recipe, it's worth bearing in mind that many things can be convinced across the barrier from "impossible" to "inadvisable" with the help of a big enough microwave
