“Women-led papers were more likely to be featured in local outlets than in national, international, or science-specialty media. They appeared more often in liberal-leaning outlets than conservative ones. And coverage of their work carried a more negative tone”

There is absolutely no good faith reason to use the term “AI” for any technology one is selling.

It serves only for dazzling people into thinking the technology has capabilities that it doesn’t.

If one wants a technology to be trustworthy, just use a transparent, informative term without hype.

Academia still hates women. But we resist! Solidarity with all women in academia who face everyday sexism, erasure, harassment etc. and with all who were pushed out 💔❤️
Some of the brightest lights I’ve known have been forced to eat shit repeatedly in their careers. And they were the “lucky” ones—in that they were able to stay in the game. Many more just got completely pushed out and we never know about them except as faceless statistics.

Highly recommended: the most recent article by my brilliant friend, collaborator, and co-editor @marilynstendera.bsky.social about the impact of griefbots on the phenomenal experience of time in grief.
I'm pleased to share my latest paper, which has just been published (Open Access) in Phenomenology & the Cognitive Sciences. It explores how 'griefbots' - AI chatbots trained to impersonate the dead - might impact the temporal phenomenology of grief.
Marking time: griefbots, world-time, and the phenomenology of bereavement - Phenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences
Bereavement has long been recognised as an experience of profound temporal disruption, unravelling and even severing the connections, meanings, and strategies we habitually use in navigating time. The...

When I protect and help other people, I am told to stop “mothering” (=sexism). If a male colleague is doing the same it is called “leadership”.
i struggle with the discussion on masculinity, cause i find most (positive) definitions of masculinity a little insulting to women, what do you mean protecting and helping people is a male trait?

But it also does not really feel like fully my business as a woman at the same time
