Jewish tradition acknowledges and honors gender diversity as inherent in Creation. We have a holy obligation to nurture and nourish each sacred human being, in all our diverse expressions and experiences of gender.

Anti-trans legislation represents an existential threat to the health, lives, dignity, and well-being of transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse people, including Reform rabbis, their families, and all of the communities we serve.

These decisions should be made by the person seeking treatment, their parents, and qualified medical professionals. The court has no place in the doctor’s office.

We hold so much hurt, and yet we still hope. For even in our darkest days, the Torah teaches us that we must cling to the promise of peace and that we must choose life.
