Hoo boy, this thread is a whopper
In areas hit by Texas floods, officials were sent over $5 million in federal ARPA funds in 2021.

They didn't want to spend it on flood warning systems due to their disdain for Biden - and didn't send it BACK because it might go to a blue state, and "values that we in Kerr county don't agree with."

Well, this makes me sad 😢
I care deeply about who Michigan will elect as Governor and send to the U.S. Senate next year, but I have decided against competing in either race.

I wrote more here about my decision and how I view the work required of us all in this moment:
I'm Not Running in 2026, But I Am Getting to Work
We all have work to do in delivering a better kind of politics for America.

From one tool to another 🤮
St. John's dominance Sunday had to be as frustrating as it was familiar for Dan Hurley. It wasn't so long ago that his team was doing to others what St. John's did to his.

But in college basketball, mountaintops can morph into marshes quickly.

The Big East now belongs to Rick Pitino.

A Change in the Garden: Rick Pitino and St. John's now rule the Big East as UConn slides off the mountaintop
UConn was the king of college basketball for two years. Its steep slip from the top is one of the biggest stories of the season

Reason N° 452 why the bro culture needs to end in sports. Someone being an abusive bully should never help anything.
Dan Hurley is hated by many. That disdain is totally justifiable. But there's no one like him in American sports.

This is ultimately a net positive for college basketball's marketability and broad appeal, even if you can't stand how he behaves.
As much as I hate him college hoops needs more psychos like him

WTAF?
Asked a seasoned State Dept employee how Marco Rubio has been received so far.

"He has a minder, like a Trump campaign minder."

A what?

"Someone in his office, not of his choosing. [Like with Tillerson], they sent somebody over because he wasn't totally within the fold." 👀

Draw your own conclusions, but Donald Trump is not behaving like a leader who expects democratic accountability for himself or his party next year or in 2028.

Not much hope for that with Kentucky’s AG
This amounts to the most significant data leak in cyber history. Private individuals in the data business now have access to your Social Security information.

This violates privacy laws in every state. Hopefully, state AGs will file suit & pursue criminal charges.

What Fred said
It isn’t “alarming.”
It isn’t “outrageous.”
It isn’t “unusual.”
It sure as shit isn’t “arousing.”

It’s fucking unacceptable and we don’t want more letters or statements or demands for investigations. We want action! We want sand thrown in the machine! We want leaders to lead! Right now!
