What a contrast! Wild winter adventures above Glen Feshie in the #Cairngorms today, and then down to a lovely, peaceful and sunny Caledonian pinewood below.

Time to dig out the ice axes for our trip to the Cairngorms this weekend!
Heads up - it's been a long wait this year but don't be complacent - looks like proper winter conditions are finally arriving on the hills. Think about the kit you need and remember to check the MWIS Mountain Weather Information Service or @metoffice.gov.uk mountain forecasts.

Come on ScotGov, this is unforgivable - and stupid! Funding for paths, etc, has always been part of the agricultural funding farmers could bid for, since 2005. It’s a tiny proportion of the overall farming budget. If land managers can’t get £££, why should they pay for this public good themselves? 😡
Quality trails = more healthy, happy walking people. 🚶

So we're shocked to learn that ScotGov’s post-Brexit farm subsidy system will fail to replace lost funding for paths and access. ➡️ www.ramblers.org.uk/post-brexit-...

Scotland will be left with the worst funding for outdoor access in Britain.🤦🏻‍♀️

We're off to the #Cairngorms for our next trip, 14-16 Nov to Milehouse hut, Kincraig. This is a regular November destination - shorter days & mixed weather, but we've still had some great walks.
We have monthly weekend trips, non-members are welcome to come on a trip before joining the club.

We braved the chilly wind and rain last Sunday and enjoyed a walk from South Queensferry through Hopetoun estate. Good chat, great scenery and lots of fresh air!
Our next day walk is on 23 November around North Berwick. Details to follow.

We had a grand time in the Lake District this month. Not great weather, but we got out into the hills each day and enjoyed great meals too (as always on Red Rope trips!).
Our next trip is to the Cairngorms in November then we're off to the Angus Glens in December. New members welcome! 🥾

What a fabulous day in the Mamores. Didn’t see a soul all day, walking up from Kinlochleven. Enjoyed autumn colours and the roaring of deer all around.
First photo from Binnein Mor with Ben Nevis behind, almost emerging from cloud.

In line with our social and environmental values we donate any surplus funds from our weekend trips to organisations we support. This year we've split £300 between UK-Med Gaza appeal and Assynt MRT.

What a fantastic weekend in Torridon! Despite winter weather and strong winds, we all got out - climbed mountains, went kayaking, enjoyed wild swimming and gentle shore walks. Plus great food and a warm, comfy hut at Mol Mor, thanks to @n-t-s.bsky.social. To the Lake District for our October trip.

Snow!❄️
Not what we expected on a September trip to Torridon, but a good reminder to prepare the pack for winter.
Great to be out with @redropescot.bsky.social pals. A cold wind, but we got lots of ☀️ too.

But land reform is an ongoing journey, and it’s time to pick up the pace, so that everyone benefits. 🗺️

What a monstrosity. Hopefully it'll do its job properly and stop rockfalls landing on folks' heads. Will also solve the knotty problem that's out on consultation - there will be no vehicular traffic going this way any time soon. #Samson'sRibs #HolyroodPark #Edinburgh

We had a great weekend away in Elphin recently, to the Grampian Speleological Club hut. We enjoyed a wide range of excursions: Conival & Ben More Assynt; Cul Mor; Cul Beag; Ben Hope; a plane wreck search; a coastal walk & swim and a cycle to Lochinver.
Our next trip is to Torridon 18-21 September.
