Paying off a student loans is bailing out a sinking rowboat with a hole in its hull. For some a rescue boat arrives, for the majority of people you go under.
I've been paying $3-500 a month for 20+ years. Don't even know what I started at anymore because my loan was sold a few times (from federal to private making me ineligible for forgiveness). It was about $70k or so. Still have $13k to go.
