Meatball and beetroot salad smørrebrød 🇩🇰 from ScandiKitchen, Great Titchfield Street W1. This place is always a winner, particularly love this smørrebrød and the curried pickled herring 🤤 bit sad the kids don’t love it as much as I do. #redharesrestaurants

Murtabak 🇲🇾 roti filled with minced lamb, from Roti King Spitalfields, Artillery Lane E1. This ma not look like much but it was pretty good with the dal curry. Nice #workscran on a cold afternoon. Their sister restaurant Gopal’s Corner stopped doing murtabak. #redharesrestaurant

Argentinian chorizo, arepa with rocket, mixed grill and copa Don Pedro 🇦🇷 from La Patagonia, Camden High Street NW1. Meat is expensive these days but La Patagonia has managed to keep prices at a reasonable level. I’d say the meat was aged for a shorter time, but it’s still tasty. #redharesrestaurants

Sussex Yeoman 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🐐 from Nut Knowle Farm. Smells gamey and oaky, tastes quite salty, almost like bacon and mushrooms with a side of oak chips. Semi hard, crumbly, sweats a little, with a gentle flavour. Paired with M&S saucisson sec and a can of (alc-free) Lucky Saint Lemon Lager. 6/10 #redharescheese

Smoked tofu banh mi 🇻🇳 with chips. Yeah, the work canteen needs to make this a regular #workscran. Sometimes the veggie version is better than the meat version. This is one of those times.

Jerk chicken, rice, coleslaw, salad and plantain 🇯🇲 a very nice lunch the work canteen serves up fairly often. I’d love some peas in the rice but I ought not to complain. It’s not all Asian food over here you know. #workscran

Spinach and avocado on toast, halloumi and poachies, drizzled with harissa oil 🇹🇳 🇦🇺 tasty fusiony brunch from Brother Marcus, Spitalfields Market E1. Sometimes all you need is a poachie or two, supplemented by a lot of other tasty things. #redharesrestaurants

Gubbeen 🇮🇪 🐄 from Gubbeen Farm. Smells fermented and mushroomy, tastes of clotted cream, mushrooms, walnuts and tomatoes. Semi hard cheese with rind washed in white wine, which enhances the umami. Paired with Dijon mustard, home made apple and pear chutney and passionfruit jam. 8/10 #redharescheese

Cw from top left: pandan, Milo and ube bilog (ice cream sandwich made from pandesal bread) 🇵🇭 from Mamasons Dirty Ice Cream, Kentish Town Road NW1. The combination of warm bread and cold ice cream is utterly delicious. You just have to eat it fast! #redharesrestaurants

Youtiao (dough fritter), tea egg, warm soy milk, yangchun noodles (soy sauce, garlic, spring onion broth) with lion head meatballs (finely minced pork) 🇨🇳 the only Chinese breakfast I know of available in London. At Ye Ye Noodle & Dumpling, Wentworth St E1. #redharesrestaurants #redharesdrinks

Cauliflower kimchi burrito 🇰🇷 🇺🇸 🇲🇽 and fries, kimchi fried rice, kimchi, pickles and fried cauliflower in a tortilla wrap with salsa and fries (plenty of mayo and sriracha on top). Can’t beat these fusion #workscrans, even if they are bad for my waistline.

Chicken sisig, potato fritter, seafood palabok and pandesal slider 🇵🇭 at Bintang, Kentish Town Road NW1. Slightly non-traditional Filipino cuisine, but with the traditional ingredients and flavours. I love the sisig, it’s lighter with chicken but still nice and sour. #redharesrestaurants

Stonebeck Wensleydale 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🐄 from Low Riggs Farm. This is proper farmhouse Wensleydale. Soft crumbly cheese, smells buttery and acidic. It tastes sour, rich, loaded with umami, of toast, grass, elderflower and roast chicken. Paired with a sliced Conference pear and a donut peach. 8/10 #redharescheese

Fare-thee-weel, thou first and fairest!
Fare-thee-weel, thou best and dearest!
Thine be ilka joy and treasure,
Peace, Enjoyment, Love and Pleasure!

My Burns Night dram. A Bowmore from Liquid Gold, a long gone indie bottler. Tastes of smoky pineapples and salty lemon sweets.

Bun bo hue rice noodle soup with rare beef 🇻🇳 from Pho Pham, Manette Street W1. If you’re ever stuck in Soho around 9, and fancy something better than Maccy D’s then try this place. I always get the bun bo hue, it’s spicy enough and it comes at exactly the right temperature. #redharesrestaurants

Cubano sándwich 🇨🇺 just to show that not all things the work canteen does are wonderful. I’m not sure about this. A bit bland, would have preferred the cheese slightly melted and the ham maybe a smidge thicker. The #workscran can’t always be amazing.
January 22, 2026 at 9:35 AM
Veggie pad ga prao 🇹🇭 soy mince fried with fish sauce, soy sauce, Thai basil and lime, with fresh chillies, a fried egg, fried onions, chilli oil and pak choi on rice. The 🇹🇭 #workscran is getting better, really tasty and satisfying (although can’t go wrong with fried egg on rice really).

Butter chicken and bhel puri 🇮🇳 from Indian Rasoi Restaurant, Fortis Green N2. Quite an unassuming place, but the curries are pretty good. Does all the favourites correctly, excellent for a winter dinner. #redharesrestaurants
January 19, 2026 at 1:35 PM
Aarewasser 🇨🇭🐄 from Jumi Cheese. Semi-hard cheese, smells buttery and lemony. It tastes creamy, sour, and of umami and new mown grass. Smells and tastes like beef jus near the rind, which is washed with Aare river water. Paired with Waitrose salted caramel chocolate truffles. 7/10 #redharescheese
January 18, 2026 at 2:53 PM
Lamb kebab kati roll 🇮🇳 from Kolkati, Seven Dials Market, Seven Dials WC2. If you’re looking for a quick munch with spicy flavours, this Britishified Kolkata classic isn’t bad. Spicy, warm, meaty and very satisfying. Street food but oh so good #redharesrestaurants

Lamb stew, colcannon, charred hispi cabbage 🇮🇪 don’t get a lot of Irish #workscran, I must say. But it was perfect for a bloody cold day. Warm, soft pillowy mash, smoky veg and hot savoury stew, nothing better.

I finished with a pot of silver needle tea, no sugar, but a petit fours of vanilla fudge and Turkish delight. The tea was great, don’t often see silver needle available. They did give me some sugar, but honestly it would have been wrong to sully the tea with it.

Dessert was a quince and almond tart, with more quince jelly and a quenelle of creme fraiche. There was also a dollop of salted caramel to sweeten things up. The quinces in the tart still had a bit of bite, which I found was perfect. I loved this, although I missed their treacle tart.
January 12, 2026 at 1:09 AM
It got better with my main course, rack of lamb, sweetbreads, braised lamb belly and parsnip and carrot puree. The sauce was intense and the lamb perfectly done. The sprig of rosemary in the sweetbreads was a clever idea.

My starter was a terrine of foie gras, quince jelly and toasted honey bread. I normally enjoy my starters most of all, but this, while good, was the most average thing I ate. I’d’ve preferred a little more seasoning on the terrine, buttery though it was.
