it’s way worse than this. NOBODY thought Johnson would let the House vote on an aca extension. they were ONLY caving for a SENATE vote (one that was ITSELF doomed, as nobody promised that a single R senator would vote for the extension even if that vote did happen). it wasn’t EVEN a false promise

maybe the difference between going back to the 60s is an anomaly and going back to the 20s (if everyone in england trusted the bbc immediately) is not, but not sure why, and this article doesn’t even attempt to establish that

they ALL sold us out. durbin is schumer’s whip. he CAN’T vote against schumer and keep his job. so he DIDN’T vote against schumer. it’s all orchestrated. a charade. EVERY ONE should be primaried unless they call for schumer to step down, now
November 11, 2025 at 1:41 AM
that’s a rhetorical question, right?

not if we all ignore it just a little bit harder

relentlessly say/amplify the truth, and give money to people who do that (eg, independent journalists). Here are a few:

ALL of them folded, after causing meaningless additional suffering. this was orchestrated — not one has called for schumer to step down as minority leader, despite his WHIP caving — and every one of them needs to be primaried

the alternative is regulation. every new medium (print, radio, tv) has gone through periods of socially harmful activity b4 settling down, primarily thru regulation. the internet has almost exactly none, and its having eroded trust in the very institutions that would do the regulating is no accident

I think the interesting questions are what makes one or more sources “trusted” and what makes a society begin to disagree about that. what I see as the causes of the latter in the US are bad faith actors intentionally discrediting erstwhile trusted sources and money
November 10, 2025 at 2:03 PM
This is a great thread, but this conclusion is I think demonstrably false — the US did okay for decades without a single source. What it had, I think, were a number of trusted sources, that tended broadly to stick to facts and so to agree among themselves about what was actually happening
