The American Academy of Pediatrics puts out a statement saying it does not recommend routine use of leucovorin for autism, pushing back against the Trump administration. "the current evidence base remains too limited to support specific clinical recommendations."

A beautifully written memoir of an incredibly painful loss. My thanks to the author for sharing this experience, I hope it was healing for her and her family.

There is currently an NWS flash flood warning in effect for all five boroughs of NYC.

But no City agency has posted it on this platform.

Please help spread the word.

The full ruling explaining why NIH grant cuts are illegal came out today.

It's just as blistering as the judge's oral remarks. And it uncovers fresh details in DOGE's role orchestrating the cuts — and on the cuts at Columbia.

Here are my top highlights from the 103-page ruling. 🧵
After ruling the NIH grant cuts were illegal yesterday, Judge Young, a Reagan appointee on the bench since 1985, ended the hearing with a blistering 15-minute speech.

I've cleaned up my notes — here are his remarks in full. 🧵
Judge rules against NIH grant cuts — and calls them discriminatory
The decision means that the US biomedical agency has to restore funding to hundreds of research projects, but the government will likely appeal.

BREAKING:

We are suing the Trump admin on behalf of our members for unlawfully cutting off $400 million in federal funding for crucial public health research to force Columbia University to surrender its academic independence.

Stay Tuned.

Went for a walk in the local woods this morning to run the dog, and noticed a tree that I’ve passed many times before on the side of the trail.

So glad to see @glaucomflecken.bsky.social here, I hope he has a tic tok to examine the “who is alive” scheme oMark cooked up in #Severance

Will it work? Unlikely.

Could it fry your eyeballs? Quite possibly. Definitely.

Can iMark reply in kind without further damaging said eyeballs? No.

Amazing NIH-funded grad students in my lab at Pitt have made important discoveries re: OCD/anxiety that will lead to better treatments for all Americans.

Loss of young passionate talent breaks the US biomedical pipeline. Freezing appropriated NIH funds led to this heartbreaking unnecessary waste 💔
This breaks my heart 💔

Some of my most incredible trainees were Pitt PhDs, and I helped run the neuro grad program (CNUP) for a few years - one of the best and largest in the country

I know this is the fiscally responsible thing to do but still, it is infuriating

The University of Pittsburgh confirmed Friday that there would be no new Ph.D. offers of admission while Pitt works to understand how reduced federal aid could impact the institution.

For anyone hesitant on submitting grad apps, DO IT‼️

The worst possible outcome is “apply again next year”. But the best is that YOU GET ACCEPTED ✨

I applied to 4 grad programs and was rejected from all except one. But they still call me Dr. now 😏

ALL YOU NEED IS ONE 🙌🏾

More proof of cat and dog in bio, but here is my boy Cashew snoozing away, impervious to any thoughts beyond “Food time? Food now?” and “ewww, dog”.
