The stupid coup's stupid energy policy--coal is just a dirty, expensive, moribund way to make electricity, and it's also some kind of symbolic Ye Mannehood of Olde stuff that the right gets all sentimental about, while screwing over actual coal miners.
At his coal promotion event at the White House, Trump just said he will use the major law firms he bullied into providing $150 million+ in free legal services to fight state and local government regulations on coal pollution.

Ah, of course. The famous case of Schrödinger's Musk.
NEW non-clarifying clarifications about Elon Musk's employee status filed just now in a NM-led lawsuit:
—Musk, as a presidential senior adviser, "has no actual or formal authority to make government decisions himself." He is also not DOGE's administrator.

In my self-defense classes I focus on how most people are socially conditioned to follow the norms of a civilized, polite society — and there is a MENTAL SHIFT required to use violence to defend from violence.

I'm reminded of this while watching our elected officials dithering and delaying. 1/

Our little offspring turned two yesterday 🎉 He grows smarter every day. He’s gentle and curious, does dangerous things carefully, acts coy while being loud and boisterous. In everything he does he continues to teach us that the only way to live and thrive is to love deep, try hard, and never stop.

Here's some background on Guantanamo from a piece on US border policy that I wrote for @nybooks.com in 2019 during the first Trump administration. "Some Suburb of Hell: America's New Concentration Camp System." (www.nybooks.com/online/2019/...)

Started a new 12-week half #marathon program with #coros. I especially dig their slow build-up through the program. Ramping up for a 25K #trailrun race in March. #lowandslow #roadto100

The email address for federal workers to inform on their colleagues is DEIAtruth@opm.gov.

Would be a real shame if folks flooded that inbox, rendering it useless.

Got in some #trailrunning miles at #antelopeisland today. My first #halfmarathon in almost 10 years. Slower than I wished, faster than I thought. Been #running off and on for years, but finally committed last July, and never looked back.

This is a tough one. Odd, quixotic, daring, and always beautiful. What a life’s contribution.
