I think that bringing back the draft *with major changes* would help turn this country around. The draftees would choose where they served (in peacetime, obv) & in addition to the armed forces there would be two additional corps: medical (already have it) and infrastructure (like WPA).

Neither healthcare nor education (at any level) be run as a business. As a genx with a high degree and an academic career I have lived the reality of the business model systematically strip the quality of both. I've suffered and I am looking for ways to ditch the rat race.
