I hope I'm not the only one who keeps flinching at hearing "AAA Rayman game"

YEAH I'd like a new Rayman game. I'd love a new 3d one. I've been waiting for Rayman 4 since Murphy said we'd see him in it at the end of the tutorial or Rayman 3, 22 years ago.

I'm so confused

welp, I guess that'll have to do

doing 658 days of sticking with *anything* I'm not contractually obligated to do is utterly unheard of for me (a week is an achievement, lol) and I haven't skipped a single day since 29th September, which I'm also really pleased with. I think I'm gonna keep going, at least for right now

A day later than usual. my god. unacceptable. (I've been working through a patch of the ol' burnout but we're getting back)

SHOW: My Hero Academia (S1&2 rewatch)

I dropped off this years ago (S4?) because I wasn't crazy into it and it was starting to feel like it was destined to just keep going forever, but with news that there's a Final season on the way I thought I'd revisit it aaand... yeah still not super into it

GAMES: Warioland 4 (GBA), Super Mario Advance 2 (GBA), Alleyway (GB), Gargoyle's Quest, The Mysterious Murasame Castle (NES)

Yeah my focus broke and I ended up pinballing around a billion things unproductively but I finished these ones. With a LOT of emulator rewind, particularly for Murasame. Fun!

GAMES: Kuru Kuru Kururin, Super Mario Advance, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, Mario Kart Super Circuit (GBA)

Took a bit of a break from XCX and ended up revisiting 2001 in GBA games. Apparently a very strong year! Still got Warioland 4 and Golden Sun to do from 2001 too. No complaints there.

On the 14th again!

I think that might just be the earliest date its possible to complete it on unless maaaybe the weekly friend quest happens to fall on (and be completed on) a specific date.

GAME: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition

I always loved the vibe of XCX, and the overhaul here brings the gameplay up to the quality of the numbered entries. No longer nightmarishly obtuse (but still intimidatingly dense) this is a well deserved and much-needed revision of a stellar game.

was it the part where it said "Director: Masahiro Sakurai" in the trailer

BOOK: Strange Pictures - Uketsu (trans. Jim Rion)

It certainly starts strong, I was hooked on the first story, but it loses speed as its characters all become absurd 4D chessmasters in service of the plot's need to be clever, with overly long, dry explanations of its increasingly unlikely scenarios

BOOK: The Teleportation Accident (Ned Beauman)

Nice to finally finish this one, I've owned it for over 10 years and started it probably a dozen times. That's not a criticism of the book, which is darkly funny and chaotic. Found it a little hard to follow by the end but I think that's a me problem

pretty good console
March 21, 2025 at 9:08 AM
As far as I can tell 2 hours in its unchanged, possibly slightly higher res textures but only subtly, and it's brighter on switch but that's mostly bc the wii u had pretty washed-out colours system-wide for some reason. Can't find many comparison shots that aren't on faces but I can see why lol

March 17, 2025 at 10:07 PM
FILM: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

I get a bit torn on this one. It's a very good film, it's great to see all that delightfully schlocky Sam Raimi-ness in here, and Wanda continues to be an excellent villain. But the multiversal throwbacks can feel like gimmicky hollow distractions.

SHOW: Moon Knight

Nice to have a show that's wholly disconnected from the rest of the MCU, really enjoyed this one.
March 16, 2025 at 8:29 PM
GAME: Kirby and the Amazing Mirror

(Played in 4-player co-op) This is SO CLOSE to being great, but its held back drastically by technical limitations. Brutal input lag and a map that pauses the game for everyone whenever it's checked - which is frequently - kill an otherwise solid co-op adventure.

GAME: Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon

Really enjoyed this, definitely an overlooked little gem. Absolutely gorgeous art style and visuals and a really good soundtrack. A nice story and a fun dynamic between Cereza & Cheshire. Shame we probably won't get any more of these
March 14, 2025 at 12:04 AM
FILM: Spider-Man: No Way Home

I'm at risk of way overthinking this one so uh yeah I dunno it's a fun film that I enjoyed watching. The framework it sets up for the way the upcoming MCU handles a lot of multiverse plots ("nostalgia!!" *jazz hands*) maybe not so good in hindsight, but hey.
March 10, 2025 at 2:13 PM
SHOW: Hawkeye

I've got a real fondness for this one - with all the spacefaring and multiverse-hopping grandiose fantasy of the rest of the MCU, it's nice to have something about a plucky aspiring new hero fighting bad guys in tracksuits and villains in black tie at xmas in new york. It's very cosy.
