This is the most disappointed I've been in a video game ever, probably. This sucks.

It's not a good Metroid game, it's not a good zelda game, it's not a good story driven setpiecey shooter game, it's not good at anything! It doesn't even have a good soundtrack somehow! Do not play it!

That's why it's a perfect "sometimes" games for me but it is frustrating that you can't really get the satisfaction of clearing it out and moving on without hours of tedium, yeah.

metropolis street racer is probably objectively like an 8 but it became my go to comfort food game, it's great

And I do believe they ARE clever enough to do it, but who knows if it'll ever happen. I'll take Metroid Prime 4 for what it is in the meantime, but I'm not expecting much from it atp.

They're still moving like Metroid has to be pitched to people when the Metroid formula is already a successful, genre leading class of game. I think they have to come to grips that reality before they can iterate on it in a meaningful way.

I don't get the impression Nintendo developers keep up that much with new releases but I hope someone in there sits down with something like Silksong or Rain World and has a long think.

I'm not all that disappointed in Metroid still floundering around trying to find itself, more worried about how it won't get many more chances to BE itself the longer it flounders.
