Yeah, super swingy. 2 of my 10 spells were successful (casting easy stuff even!). A player started with a bear that was eating thugs and thieves. Damage basically being "D20+mod minus 10, 11 or 12" meant people were either taking zero damage, or a LOT.

That d20 is brutal.

At least Mordheim has the bottle roll (lose 2-3 guys and you're on a timer as you need a leadership test to remain in the game each round).
This really feels like it has the core of a good game, with unfun game ending triggers that makes it go twice as long as it should.

Treasure chests halve your movement too, so you run in, get a chest, and now the fastest person running is going 5" per turn. From the middle, straight line, that's another 5 turns minimum once you get the objective.
