🦠 New research in @jac-amr.bsky.social reveals 4.2% of deaths in a UK teaching hospital were AMR-attributable, yet #AMR wasn't recorded as a cause in any case.

Intrinsic resistance (Enterococcus faecium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) played a major role.

#AMR is a risk to antibiotic failure & death, but if this happens, do we record it on death certificates? Our centre data = NO!

👉In 1 year, 4% of deaths were AMR-attributed & NONE were recorded on death certificates!👈

Need to quantify this better to increase awareness! #IDSky @jac-amr.bsky.social

Time to Staphylococcus aureus blood culture positivity is a useful marker for infective endocarditis

This retrospective cohort study of >1700 cases of SAB suggests that if TTP > 13 hrs, the patient is unlikely to have endocarditis (NPV 96%, 95%CI 95-97)
