My last session on the rooftop bar in my hotel at Lisbon
September 14, 2025 at 11:31 AM
Loved my hotel in Lisbon (the PortoBay Marques), but my wall contained a daily reminder of the funicular railway that crashed last week.

In #Lisbon right now on holiday for the first time and seeing the steep gradients the streetcars have to negotiate up the Bairro Alto it makes the consequences of last week's crash all the more real.

Goodnight Toronto! Standing on Yonge St just next to the Eaton Centre.

The same photo taken from the same spot roughly today. Not a trace that there was ever a railway station here.

Nice walk in New York City last night on our first night of our Easter break

Proof that the rhetoric of the right never changes.

March 1st always brings a bit of optimism as it means that winter is now slowly transitioning into Spring. Boy we need it with all these dark political events happening around us.

I am privileged enough to get into the Gold Lounge at Heathrow you get a brilliant view of the entire airfield and you can watch the planes landing and taking off

Frantic train and tube journey to try and get from Hampton Court back to Islington before the rugby started but we made it (more or less)

The Petticoat Lane area in East London sums up beautifully the wealth gap in the UK. Shuttered shops, graffiti everywhere and a run down council estate just two blocks away from all the power and wealth of the Square Mile.

Dundee didn't escape the storm...a tree came down in the main University of Dundee campus on Friday thankfully nobody was hurt

Got this little present from BA this morning. I have of course, zero chance of maintaining it with the new rules coming in but hey how enjoy it whilst it lasts.....

Interesting - it costs £5.60 to go from Zone 1 to Heathrow (Zone 6) direct. But stop the journey and restart in Zone 2 and you save 60p. Tam from Still Game would be proud!

Winter vs Summer over the Thames at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew
January 19, 2025 at 5:49 PM
Lovely afternoon in Kew Gardens....not a lot of flowers but peaceful walks in the winter mist (apart from the planes going into LHR every minute). How do those people cope with it??

Misty day here in London, from the top of St Paul's. If you were going up The Shard then it was something of a waste of time it seems.

Having a little stroll through Chapel Market near the Angel Islington. It's become my favourite little corner of London.

Out in the woods today. As the festive season draws to a close we can just trudge through the coming weeks and months as best we can.

Lego Modular buildings are addictive. I am half way through the Jazz Club and I want another one already!
January 3, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Starting my Lego project a week after I got it. 420 build steps, 3000 parts and 14 bags in total. Already made a couple of bloopers in this first stage

Shocking the amount of destruction at Euston for #HS2. Two office blocks, two hotels, a council estate have been flattened and an entire cemetery has had to be exhumed. Years before anything will ever be built to replace it all. Scandalous.

Cold and frosty morning here in Dundee with low cloud over the Tay Bridge. Winter is definitely upon us now.
