Try as they might, the checks and balances the Founders wrote to prevent a monarchy while preserving an oligarchy, were inadequate when oligarchy itself becomes a fascist ruler.

From this perspective the KKK is the forerunner to the paramilitary Brownshirts and Nazi paramilitaries. White civic associations in the south were the mobilizing structures for terror campaigns in the post-reconstruction south.

Dubois, Cedric Robinson, Aimee Cesaire. Jeanelle K. Hope builds on the scholarship of others to illuminate the racist roots of fascism in the U.S. Instead of looking for Trump's forerunners in 1930s Europe we should be looking at how Andrew Jackson is the forerunner to Trump.

Dylan is brilliant. I went to graduate school with him. But I would love to see these scholars engage the black radical tradition, ethnic studies, and decolonial studies in their analyses. The role of race and white supremacy is not adequately theorized with "1930s Europe" as the starting point.

Is any other holiday besides Columbus Day more directly tied to the narrative myths that uphold and perpetuate white supremacy? As if white “nativist“ discourse about “real American” food isn’t a total tell masquerading as “patriotic“ tradiction/heritage.
