Here's a different kind of holiday salad for the non-traditionalists among us. Every bite should be fresh, slightly tart, and thanks to the beans, a little creamy. Raw Beet Salad with White Beans, Pomegranate Seeds, and Black Walnuts is in today's newsletter.

I love a lazy Sunday and recipe testing. This was leftover rotisserie chicken, garbanzo, chipotle en adobo en adobo, and nopales. Sort of caldo Tlapeño.

Leftovers for breakfast. Pardina lentils, some rotisserie chicken, roasted broccolini, broth made from the chicken bones. All leftovers and I’ll reheat it quickly for a delicious breakfast soup.

I'm oddly moved and surprised. Apparently we hit a major milestone in e-commerce.

We were on something called Miva Merchant for years before Shopify but Shopify really gave us the tools to take control.

I wish I could go back years and tell my younger self to chill. This all worked!

Congratulations to Allison Roman (@alisoneroman) with another great book publish from Clarkson Potter (@clarksonpotter), with lots of great bean ideas, as usual. And thanks to Staub (@staub_usa) for this adorable enamel cast-iron pot. We’re ready for winter!

We're very pleased to announce that Rancho Gordo Press will be publishing Arnab Chakladar's "Contemporary Indian Cooking" next year. I've known Arnab for years. We met on the food forums and I can't wait to share his clever twists on Indian cuisine. Here's a recipe to kick things off.

Beans on toast is an almost universal quick meal whether you're in Italy, London or the kitchen of Chef Preeti Mistry. Preeti's version is in our new booklet, 5 Recipes from the kitchen of Preeti Mistry, included at no cost in every Rancho Gordo order (or in our Napa store) while supplies last.

A friendly reminder to replace some or all of the water in your rice with bean broth. Up the protein and the flavor without no effort!

This morning at Jack London State Park.

I know the rest of the world is wonderful, but my little corner of Northern California, where I’m from, with my people, is paradise for me

We're celebrating Dia de los Muertos at the Rancho Gordo store in Napa today and Saturday with pan de muerto and hot chocolate, all day.
Come by and say hello and you're welcome to add to the altar, put together by RG staff, if you like.

So happy to have this show up in the mail yesterday.
Marcella fans will rejoice and I know cooks who have loved Ada Boni for years. The complete, historic version looks great. Can't wait to get into it.

In honor of Jacques Pepin's 90th birthday, we've adapted a neglected recipe from his "Fast Food My way" book, which is a staff favorite. We'll have more photos from the big party at the CIA in Napa soon, but for now, consider this delicious dish for the coming weekend.
