It's so hard to convey to nonlawyers how messed up this approach is, or how much it interferes with the ability of literally anyone to know what the law is.

Adding insult (and chaos) to injury imo is the way the Court keeps overriding lower courts' detailed orders blockung Trump's lawless behavior, like mass firing of federal workers, and gives literally no reason

Several others have aptly summarized this. Republicans now get a number where they can call Elon and ask for the law to be followed for things that were cut but which they want back. So Elon is in charge of federal spending. And you can go to him hat in hand.
Like huh it’s almost as if this information is inconsistent with the government’s representations in court that Amy Gleason, not Musk, is in charge of DOGE, and that agency heads, not DOGE, are responsible for the cuts
