So if goods exports and private consumption get going it might stabilise things? And seeing as govt CAN influence private consumption, much more than it can do something about goods exports in today's world...

TL:DR version of the report on nuclear power in UK is that we screwed it up because of poor regulation

It'd be more like a Benny Hill skit if it didn't have such big implications.

So productive all the hours spend 'discussing' Russian fantasy fiction. With help with from a useful idiot (Witkoff).

Presidential runoff in Chile seems at first glance like a foregone conclusion. BUT, this is first general election after compulsory voting introduced 2022. So pollsters have for calibration just 2 referendums and the elections this year.

Also, political labels and terms have lost any meaning

Bloomberg being a bit more sensible about their reporting on what are essentially ongoing negotiations

Clearly, as expected, Zohran bested him.
And now everybody gets to know about Zohran.

NHS advice is out of step with big chunk of modern evidence.

There's ~314000 licensed doctors on the GMC register and the number leaving is stable at ~4% each year.
There are a few worrying and a few positive TRENDS in the GMC workforce report but also need to also look at absolute numbers

I would note that there's more UK trained doctors leaving the UK than overseas trained ones.

On the larger point, yes, when you're being hostile to migrants, it's the highly skilled that are going to hear about it more and reach the 'I've had enough of this' point

Super important topic given what Autocracy Inc fellows are learning from each other, however the report just doesn't go there (WHY?)

You're misreading this. Even from just that article.
They want the serious crimes to get to jury trial rather than the system being clogged by crimes that do not warrant jury trial but are because some are gaming the system.

This is a big deal!

Up till now space was would have been an ESA thing for Germany, now it's clearly a war-fighting domain.

€35bn is a significant sum for 🇪🇺/🇩🇪 space industrial base

Hopefully they go 'Team Europe' with this money, rather than just keep it for German companies

This report by the Defence Committee is shockingly bad!

It's out of date (though released yesterday), it's misleading, it's badly written, badly structured and lacks specificity throughout.

Look, I can see how a getaway with the boys where you can each moan about the problems back home is preferable.

But this is not like a family spat where you just tell the kids to 'cut it out'. They're not listening to you.

Unlike in a family you have dictator powers with 'your team'

High speed line between towns/cities should be several times cheaper than deep London tunnel. So when HS2 is just about as expensive as Jubilee or Northern line extension that is bad.

HS2 at £250-290 mil/km vs EU projects is 🤯🤯🤯
