We buy the same groceries every week, so it’s easy to notice the difference. Since January, prices are up 15 to 20%—and that’s if the size hasn’t changed. Shrinkflation is everywhere. Less product, more money—and they hope we don’t notice. But we do.

It seems to me that more Americans are realizing, like those of us paying attention have known all along, it was never about finding waste and fraud, because there wasn’t much, if any, of that. It has been, of course, about the grift, about corruption, about self-enrichment.
