Nothing like an all-night #coffee shop for a 9pm cup of the good stuff and some dissertation coding.

Also, little John Coltrane.

How great would it be if, once a semester, or three times a year (#NAGC Annual, Spring, & Summer) the directors/coordinators/asst. dirs. of #Gifted in the nation’s 50 (or 100) largest districts got together.

How do we create this association? What does this work look like? How do we move forward?

I will leave this here in case any of you #EduSky people need it. #Coffee

We should always remember two things:

1.) #Gifted education is not a privilege.
2.) Gifted work is equity work.

Book Two for Thanksgiving Break is Ta-Nehisi Coates’ The Message. I’ve always loved stories of travel and have recently loved all things Coates. Just a chapter in and the prose, unsurprisingly, is rich and eloquent and with plenty of depth. | #BookSky #EduSky

I do a fair amount of traveling and this is a record. Well done SeaTac.

In an era of intense marketing a choice, that availability of advanced classes is a pretty big player. | #gifted #EduSky

If we know that tests like CogAT, NNAT, NGAT, etc create anxiety for students and teachers AND that students perform closer to their potential after real practice of that test, why not create some kind of creative play-practice at the sign on screen for these tests w/feedback? | #Gifted #NAGC24

Four state directors of #gifted agree, we must stop thinking universal screening’s only purpose is for GT ID.

Dr. McKinney (CO) makes a significant plea to use this information to push educators to use this information to inform practices for every student in the building. | #NAGC24

Following a really important/actionable study released in GCQ, some salient points:

Get away from “who is gifted” and shift the focus to “who needs what and at what time”

If we are spending so much on #gifted ID, why are we doing it if it doesn’t match services?

When we talk about overcoming excellence gaps, what we are really talking about is providing opportunities.

This thing hasn’t even officially started and it’s already amazing. Well done #NAGC24.

And just like all the others, quick, easy, and interesting from page 1. While there may not be as many fun allegories as David v Goliath, I actually had trouble setting this down this weekend.
