Make them work from home.

If somebody comes at me with "but informal discussions in the corridors of power are what make Parliament work", I submit to you a Parliament that can't even maintain the structural integrity of said corridors.
EXCL:

Final decision on restoring the Palace of Westminster will be delayed until 2030s

MPs were expected to vote by the end of 2025 on a way forward for fixing the crumbling parliament, but that now won't happen

Final decision on fate of crumbling UK parliament delayed to 2030s
It’s a fire-hazard that’s prone to tumbling masonry — but fear of a public backlash is again delaying repairs to the world famous building.

🔉What dangers does X pose to our democracy? And should the government stop using it?

Good to hear yesterday from @sundersays.bsky.social and @petergeoghegan.bsky.social on the immense risk of X as it ignores legal obligations and its owner tries to influence UK politics.

🚨OpenAI’s new “safer” version of ChatGPT actually allows more harm.

We tested GPT-5 and GPT-4o to see if GPT-5 was safer & found that actually GPT-5 gave MORE harmful responses.

Remember - in formal writing you should generally avoid abbreviations and use terms such as "you are", "that is" and "What is application".

***POLL***

Context: I have seen both opinions expressed on Bluesky by at least 2 people.

Who is crazier? People who believe that:

1) Keir Starmer is a good politician.
2) Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace is a good film.

Respond with "Starmerstans" or "Jar Jar Apologists".

Really important article - I’d argue that the switch to opt-out hasn’t failed but hasn’t worked as hoped either. It does however reinforce that even with opt-out in place it’s important to consider your wishes, register a decision & tell your loved ones - #LeaveThemCertain #YesIDoNate #OrganDonation

Thank all for your support. It's been so touching for you all to suggest it to me and I'll be honest, I also thought about it.

So I can confirm that, yes, I will be applying to be the next Director-General of the BBC.

Took some photos for an event this morning. My phone decided to take "motion photos". Consider the basic camera app of your phone enshittified.

(Yes, they are just very short, soundless videos thus rendering them useless as stills or videos.)

Finished watching Riot Women. The W Yorks setting made a lot more sense when I remembered that Sally Wainwright is not Sally Rooney.

It's brilliant, thoroughly recommend, but (as some of the trailers imply) it is not for the light-hearted with suicide, SA and DV all themes.

If you ever decide you want to try being against the artist and for big business, Megalopolis is your argument. I came out of that film hoping nobody made any more original films and we just had sequels from now on. It is worse than you're imagining.

Can't wait for Star Wars Yes, Minister
ironically what makes star wars stuff best is when it is 'something else, but also star wars'

e.g. Andor, a British political thriller but also Star Wars
the Mandalorian, an episode-of-the-week Western but also Star Wars (when it was good)
