My grandmother's little brother died of diphtheria. It traumatized her for life. Imagine telling her that you could have vaccinated your child against that same terrible disease but chose not to because you read something on the internet. 🤦‍♀️
It will never cease to amaze me that humans are intelligent enough to create vaccines and also dumb enough to deliberately not use them. It’s quite a range.

My camera is full of little treasures my son insisted I take a photo of. 🥹 Trying to get anywhere with a child can be infuriating if you're on a tight schedule, but I know I'll miss his endless sense of wonder when he's grown too big to notice funny flowers.

My dad used to say we'd never to go to Disneyland if I kept leaving the lights on. 🤣
There’s a Hindi phrase (usually said by dads) for when someone leaves the lights on that translates to “Is it Diwali again?” A French version is “We’re not in Versailles!” But my favourite version, by far, is the Serbian “Was your grandpa Nikola Tesla?”

True love is your partner sneaking out to buy the book you can't seem to find anywhere, then leaving it on your bedside table for you to find at bedtime. 🥹

Tickled to see one of my books in a lovely little used bookstore in a neighboring city. Lovely to think it was enjoyed by a family and will hopefully move on to a new home. 🥰

Ah yes, INDEPENDENCE Day Eve, where for many centuries people would shop at INDEPENDENT Bookstores in preparation for their big celebrations. What? You're saying that's not a thing? Huh, well, it's a thing if we make it a thing.

I'm so happy that #kidlitpostcard exists. Seeing so much creativity popping up all over my feed is just the balm my weary heart needs.

We've discovered Hot Wheels : Let's Race! on Netflix, and the kiddo is obsessed. I'm enjoying the diverse characters and positive messages, even if it is a glorified toy commercial. Also, always fun to see a redhead character in a TV show. 😄

We're recovering from the kiddo's minor surgery (thankful as always for our medical system, flawed as it is) and doing some (possibly haunted) crafts...Hope we're not accidentally summoning any dog demons...

Hey, look - that's MY (very long) name! Always a treat to pop into a school to talk up Summer Reading Club and spot one of my books on the shelf. 🥰

@stephcampisi.bsky.social look who I spotted at the library! Checked them both out. 🥳

This is how I feel about laundry, too. 🤣

Also - it's easy to forget how beautiful this province is. It really is beautiful British Columbia, especially on a sunny summer's day!

Happy Pride Month! So glad I live in a part of the world where rainbow flags are officially waved!

I feel this on such a profound level. "Serious" books get the starred reviews and win the awards, but kids deserve to read for fun, just like anyone else. Don't turn up your nose at "silly" books, sometimes they're a life-line.

On the ferry to Victoria to meet some lovely booksellers and talk up my upcoming title with @harpercollins.bsky.social - can't wait to be back on the island, it's been too long! #kidscanlit

I think my child's hunger for Critter Club books has caused a spike in circ stats. 😉 A gentle reminder - kids can read whatever books they want, regardless of publisher marketing. Books have no gender. Books are for everyone.

What better way to celebrate the end of the week than by revealing that I've embarked on a new and exciting freelance writing project with an amazing kidlit publisher?! I can't share too many details yet, but let's just say I'm excited!!!

Who says toys are just for kids? My son was very impressed by my "unusual build" - good thing I'm a writer and librarian, not a structural engineer...🤣

Could shoe companies please make grown up shoes that are this fun? I'd love a pair of these twinkle toes! I'd definitely earn some bonus points with the kids at work.

My son's kindergarten class released the butterflies they've been carefully raising and studying. In case you too needed a brief emotional palate cleanser.
