Today's historic pic: A Queensland Rail goods train heads south-west along the side-of-road track in Spence Street, Cairns, Qld, July 27 1986. The line curving towards us led to Cairns station. Tracks along Spence St were removed in the 1990s and trains nowadays run south via Portsmith instead.

Today's historic pic: A Queensland Rail goods train headed by what I think is 2470 class diesel 2475 and a 1502 class at Kawana, Queensland, July 18 1986. Kawana is in the northern suburbs of Rockhampton about 640km north of Brisbane on QR's 1067mm gauge Brisbane to Cairns North Coast main line.

Today's historic pic: Exactly 40 years ago today, Adelaide Redhen diesel railcar 436 runs an Adelaide-bound trip from Belair or Bridgewater near Keswick, SA, April 9 1985. Redhen railcars ran Adelaide's broad gauge suburban trains from 1955 until the last few were withdrawn in late 1996.
