For #TextileTuesday a Catherine wheel in silk with metal thread embroidery and applied decoration.

It’s part of a beautiful 450 year old altar cloth on display a new exhibition at Exeter Cathedral, I highly recommend a visit.

The great East Window, Exeter Cathedral. Removed and preserved during Workd War 2, it includes coats of arms of bishops, royalty and prominent families, some dating from 1391.

Two fonts at St Andrew’s Buckland Monachorum, Devon. The second, a Saxon or Norman, tub font, was found during repairs in 1857, and used in two other local churches before returning to Buckland in 1936.

Come on in — the door is open . The chapel at Buckland Abbey. The former chancel of the Abbey church was remodelled as a chapel in the 1920s.

The font dates from 1855

A spider’s web, part of the intricate carving of the pulpit at St Peter’s, Stoke Fleming . The pulpit was designed by Edmund H Sedding and created by one of the Pinwill sisters and installed in 1890/91.

Katherine Champernowne’s first husband, Otho Gilbert, was born at Broadwoodkelly in 1513.
