For #TextileTuesday a Catherine wheel in silk with metal thread embroidery and applied decoration.
It’s part of a beautiful 450 year old altar cloth on display a new exhibition at Exeter Cathedral, I highly recommend a visit.

For about ten days each year this acer in my Devon garden justifies its place as the leaves turn furry red. But the rest of the year it’s rather boring. Should it go or should it stay?

Annie Parker #stitch ed this sampler (now on show in our #CM150 exhibition) using her own hair as thread and gave it to the Rev John Horsley, chaplain to Clerkenwell Prison. In 1884 he gave it to our collection - Parker herself died the following year of TB aged only 35. #Museum30 #womensart

Thank you Devon Buildings Group and @ExeterCathedral for yesterday’s opportunity to explore a part of the cathedral I hadn’t seen before.
In a room above the chapel the chapel of St Andrew and St Catherine — a pig and piglets in stone.

Two fonts at St Andrew’s Buckland Monachorum, Devon. The second, a Saxon or Norman, tub font, was found during repairs in 1857, and used in two other local churches before returning to Buckland in 1936.
