I pepper emails with exclamation points to sound chirpy. I put on makeup to look professional. I raise my voice an octave as I’ve been criticized for not sounding positive enough at work. What must it be like not to owe the world pretty and perky because of what’s between your legs?

F*ck me it is very easy to give into despair at the moment. Which is when I fall back on some more of my Oma's advice - when all seems lost, keep going just to spite those you fight against.

If all else fails, exist to spite someone you can't stand 😉

A post from Twitter that I like to read sometimes whenever I'm feeling despair creeping in.

If you feel despair, if you feel defeated, if you catch yourself dissociating or focusing on what our oppressors are doing rather than on what you can do yourself—that is territory that the enemy has claimed within you.

Give them nothing. Focus on your agency. We are in a fight that we can win. 🏴🏴🏴

So, I’m in Texas for work. The power in my hotel was out most of yesterday afternoon and this morning. There is no storm. The front desk says random outages are not uncommon for the area. It’s a major city.

Great system they have down here. An incredibly well-run state.
