Is anyone else waiting for Bill Cosby to die so they can hopefully enjoy part of their childhood again?

Snettisham Great Torc is a large Iron Age torc in electrum, from the 1stC BC. It is one of the finest pieces of #Celtic #art in a distinctly #British Celtic style. The Snettisham Hoard of torcs and other metalwork was found in 1950.

I'm in a good mood today for no particular reason.

Do I put a damper on it by trudging through another chapter of Numbers, or continue reading my latest Norton (The Defiant Agents)?

Forget Canada, annex Sweden! They're keeping these from us:

Numbers has really long chapters. Like, over a page long. And given this is an old KJV, with the tiny print? Yeah.

Chapter 7 went on about how much the Israelites had to cough up to consecrate the tabernacle. How much? LOTS. God loves his bling.

Years ago I attended a talk on group dynamics. The three stages of groups stressed in this talk:

1) Forming
2) Norming
3) Storming

I'm binging Norton again. On Uncharted Stars right now and have Gryphon In Glory lined up after that.

I don't like this time of year, so comfort reading it is.

Remembering why 10-year-old me got bored with Numbers.

Levites became the sacred tribe. Does this make Levis the sacred jeans?

Other tribes arranged around the tabernacle deosil, starting in the east.

I'm at the point where I grab books I want to read and 'nest' them around my chair. Then, days later I have to winnow out which ones I *really* want to read.

Finished Leviticus. On to Numbers, which bored ten-year-old me to tears.

Is Leviticus the most misquoted book?

I think the most quoted verse with the most devastating effect was from Exodus: "Thou shalt not siffer a witch to live."

Finished Exodus.

God liked his burnt offerings, their "sweet savor." He told Moses, who wanted to see his glory, "You can see my backside but not my face."

The building if thre Ark of the Covenant is described twice.

On to Leviticus tomorrow.

One of the rarest objects from #Pompeii: a small portrait of a man painted on glass. It’s also a rare portrayal of an older, grey-haired individual. How did this survive the eruption of Vesuvius? Thought to have come from Alexandria. 🏺 #AncientBluesky

Aaron does all the work, Moses gets all the credit.

I 'd've built a golden calf, too.

Adam may have been the first man, but God was the first interior designer.

Considering how difficult it was to make blue, purple and red dyes before modern times, he was a real PITA, too.

"Thou shall have no gods before me."

But.

Exodus 22:28-- "Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the rulers of thy people. "

Exodus 23:13--"And in all things that I have said unti you be circumspect; and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth."

Women's Stories

There are two fathers I do not understand:
the one at the bridge,
devil's bargain still warm on his mouth,
kissing his daughter first saying:
"Do I have a husband for you";
And Abraham with his traitor's hand,
leading Isaac up the hill to God.

I find myself wanting to read the books from my grade school years: Little House series, Harriet the Spy, The Borrowers, even Pueblo Stories that hooked me onto mythology. Oh, yeah, and The Brownies.

But I have no library card and I'm broke.
