Many of you know me from #LawTwitter and #AppellateTwitter, but for those at #LawSky who do not, I am excited to connect!

Briefly, I’m the pro se plaintiff-appellant in a 9th Circuit appeal challenging the doctrines of § 1983 qualified & absolute immunity.

i just read something about grief from C.S. Lewis and his book, “A Grief Observed”

basically, when someone you love dies, it isn’t just them that you miss, but the parts of yourself that person brought out of you that can never be brought out again.

i feel that with my dad.

Got this ACMS notification yesterday evening from the Ninth Circuit (thinking it was a decision in my AI disclosure requirement appeal) and was too nervous to open it for hours.

Turns out it was just a global order on the .gov shutdown that has nothing to do with my case. Talk about anti-climactic…

Dear The Woman in the waiting room reading How to be Enough.

Respectfully, you are Enough. You always have been enough, you will forever be enough. There will never come a time when your enoughness is not sufficient.
You are forever, and for all time enough.

So are you.

They did not, in fact.

Making up totally new and blatantly unconstitutional legal doctrines is not justification for anything but a psych evaluation.

Annie Haslam is my pick for best female vocalist ever and it’s not even close.

This wasn’t at all meant to be condescending, and I’m not at all saying that any chemist could excel at law.

It’s just puzzling to me that the legal world hasn’t yet discovered that a scientific approach to problem solving might be better than just facts—> issues —> controlling precedent.
I’m really surprised that there aren’t more lawyers with undergrad degrees in the sciences. My organic chem background *tremendously* enhances my legal analysis skills—if you’ve ever had to conduct a retrosynthetic analysis then you understand.

Frankly, legal analysis is a joke compared to o chem.

Everyone is dunking on Kim Kardashian. The truth is the California bar is notoriously hard, the pass rate was only 55%, the pass rate for people who didn‘t go to an accredited law school is way lower, and lots of very smart and dedicated people don’t pass the first time and become good lawyers.

Having now litigated 10 appeals in state and federal courts (2 active now in CA9), I have to say that trial court practice is boring as shit by comparison.

Sorry to my trial peeps. It just doesn’t hit that dopamine for me anymore—not even in federal court.

I’m a junkie.

I’ve probably said too much… 👀
This is a big reason Open AI is begging for a government handout. Much more than usual.

I use AI extensively for deep textual analysis of very large precedent data sets in algorithmic game theory applications.

DeepSeek destroys GPT and has a *very* low error rate when employing the data I provide.
DeepSeek *wrecks* every other free LLM AI and it’s not even close.

My son Seamus died 15 years ago today. He was killed by a careless driver in a crosswalk.

He walked at 9 months, almost as if he knew he wouldn’t have much time. His favorite thing to do was throw rocks into water. He loved the moon. He called butterflies “buddy buddies.” I miss him every day.
