Cultivate the kind of hope that allows you to keep moving forward.
Some days, hope feels far away. Sean Parker Dennison reminds us we don’t have to face or fix the world alone. Hope lives in community—where generosity, mourning, and joy connect us, and where we remember we belong to each other.

As the Supreme Court allows revocation of legal status for 532,000 immigrants, we remember Dr. King's words: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Our faith calls us to welcome strangers and defend the vulnerable. May American citizens stand with their immigrant neighbors.

As tensions rise over international student visas, we're reminded that fear can cloud our vision of unity. Like threads in a tapestry, Chinese and American students are interconnected in the persuit of learning. We must encourage our leaders to protect the bonds that make us one human family.

Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility. As we commit to upholding the dignity and rights of our transgender siblings, let us remember the words of Martin Luther King Jr.: 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.'

If you are lucky enough to not be the target of oppression, then use your privilege to support someone who is. Your support makes these issues harder to dismiss and ignore.

Try all five!
My birthday is in 1 week. This is my wish list. Please choose from the following options:
- act of resistance to fascism.
- act of kindness that is out of your comfort zone.
- donation to a gender affirming care or suicide prevention org.
- giving your pet extra snuggles and posting a pic.

The Bible isn’t a playbook for control; it’s an invitation to imagine a world shaped by compassion, humility, and generosity. What kind of world are you building? #LivingRightSideUp #ScriptureSpeaks

We must not think of ourselves as separate from those around us.

The cost of eggs has never been higher and many struggle to afford to feed their families. If you can afford to, donating to a local charity is a great way to help those in need. We can get through this together.

Forced removal of a population is a violation of International Law and the Golden Rule. We must respect the desires of a people to stay in their homeland.

Bad news can come at a pace that threatens to overwhelm us. We must limit our exposure to negative press so we can ensure that we have the energy to make positive changes in the world.

Diversity is not about lowering standards to meet a quota; it is about raising standards. Surrounding yourself with one type of person is a low standard. We must aim for the highest standard, which is surrounding ourselves with the best humans, and human greatness comes in all forms.

If compassion is truly and deeply felt then, by nature, we will find a way to express it through our actions.
In Buddhism, compassion is not a passive act, it is a powerful force for change and for justice

Compassion prompts us to fight for all living beings—all people, all animals, all plants—to receive understanding and respect

Compassion is creating safe spaces and accepting consequences

Kindness is healing. We must be like doctors and focus on those who need our healing most.

I know this sounds weak, I know it.

But kindness is one of the few things we carry that can make a difference for each other.

We can’t undo all this hate, but we can still make life a little easier for others.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

It seems fitting to draw inspiration from King's "How Long, Not Long" speech.

"Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne. Yet that scaffold sways the future and, behind the dim unknown, standeth God within the shadow, keeping watch above his own."

We should always seek to ease suffering in others. Just as important, we can help people choose responsible, ethical ways to ease their suffering.
you’re not always going to “get it” when people bring up something you’re not familiar with / never personally dealt with, and that’s something that everyone must come to terms with. but that doesn’t mean you can’t have compassion or not even attempt to understand, if that makes sense

It can be frustrating to watch people be rewarded for their selfishness, malice, and cruelty. Whatever worldly benefits those people may receive, they will never know the peace of having made the world better. Have faith that this reward is superior to any other.

During times of crisis there is much we can do to reduce the suffering of the victims. If you lack the resources to contribute materially, then speak compassionately so the victims know they are not alone.

Sometimes doing the right thing can feel invisible. But you are seen. Silent onlookers are encouraged to do right. People who are surrounded by wrong are reminded of what doing right looks like. Remember, a light shines brightest in the darkness.

Times of transition can be full of grief for a lost past and anxiety about an uncertain future. While it is normal to feel these emotions, don't lose yourself in them. Work on living deeply in the present moment.
