I really enjoy when in media, characters call a priest "Padre", à la Col. Potter in M*A*S*H. I don't know why, but it tickles me. Very fun.

Original opposition to birthright citizenship was connected to support for slavery. Enslavers didn't want African Americans born in the US to enjoy citizenship; they wanted to continue amassing wealth through coerced labor, torture, & abuse. Birthright citizenship was always about equity & freedom.

When I was 25 I was sad I had not written The Great American Novel. At 55, I realize there's no Great American Novel, there are merely the stories I'm the best person to tell. Don't worry about how others see greatness. Work on being the best version of who you are and what you can do in the world.

I was literally asked about my sexual identity/orientation during triage w/ the nurse prior to my last VA check up & it didn’t even occur to me to lie or opt out bc I figured it was just random data being collected to analyze what resources the dept should be offering based on demographics. 🥲
