Yes, libraries are invaluable for their collections and public services they offer, but also social contact without the expectation to interact with anyone or spend any money is so important to so many people

The moment you regret following a medical historian on #bluesky👇

This image of bloody diarrhea is from a book by John Arderne written in 1370. The National Library in Stockholm houses the five meter long parchment script. Arderne is most famous for describing how to operate on anal fistulas.

WRITING TIP FOR TODAY

Sale racks at bookstores. I'm dead serious.

Buy reference books when they are practically giving them away and build a little library. I cannot explain the difference between a book and the ENTIRE WEB.

A good reference book will give you a dozen ideas in the first chapter.

The most important thing in writing is to finish. A finished thing can be fixed. A finished thing can be published. A finished thing can be made into a movie.

An unfinished thing is just a dream. And dreams fade if you don't hold on tight enough.

So finish the thing.
