Seven Democrats and one independent broke with their party to back a deal to end the longest U.S. government shutdown. The vote split Democrats, while Republicans needed eight more votes to overcome a filibuster.

Sens. Dick Durbin, Tim Kaine and others supported a deal paving the way to end the shutdown. A final deal would need support from the House and president.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Media organizations will regret gutting people of color from newsrooms. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but they will see the consequences eventually.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.
