I would recommend this article “Dietary recommendations for healthy children” to parents. www.heart.org/en/healthy-l... it covers what foods to give, how much, and when to start. Also not forcing kids to eat when they’re full and choosing healthier options. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

As a busy college student, finding time to plan meals and shop for groceries is a challenge. Between classes, studying, and other responsibilities, meal planning often gets pushed aside. I end up grabbing whatever is convenient, sometimes may not be the healthiest option. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

The baby and toddler food market has surged, with ultra-processed foods high in sugar and sodium, designed for toddlers developing chewing and coordination skills. Concerns grow over their long-term health risks due to additives and unhealthy ingredients. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Excellent piece on how the market for U.S. baby foods has been transformed by ultra-processing, with very few guardrails against harms... amidst big threats to SNAP, WIC and other help to caregivers for healthier infant feeding practices.

Great work from @sarah-todd.bsky.social @statnews.com
It wasn't until I had a baby myself that I realized how many ultra-processed foods are out there for young children — puffs, melts, toddler milk, and more. I spoke with experts about how these foods get marketed to parents and the long-term health consequences:

The keto diet is a low carb, high-fat eating plan that helps the body burn fat for energy instead of carbs aka ketosis. This diet can lead to weight loss and improved energy levels, but beginners may experience side effects like “keto flu.” What makes this happen? @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

In the morning I usually like to have eggs and toast with some bacon. To make it more nutrient dense I could start adding more vitamins and healthy fats into my eggs. Including tomatoes, spinach, or avocado. Maybe add some delicious fresh fruit. :) @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
