As I put it last year in my blunt advice to Irish cities, “Your goal SHOULDN’T be to replace a million fossil fuel vehicles with a million electric vehicles. It should be to replace a million fossil fuel vehicles with 250K electric vehicles. The main answer HAS to be FEWER cars."

The hypothetical malevolent person looking to hand out razor blades or their personal drug stash to our sweet innocent children is classic Halloween — a cinematic stylized mythical danger, far less horrifying and intractable than the actual dangers they face.
Just turned on Today show type TV to an interview with a fully uniformed police officer, soberly giving trick-or-treating safety tips, like looking out for torn candy wrappers or hard candies that kids might choke on. And I guess also hope no one has an AR-15. America is confused about "safety."

The sad thing about Pence isn’t that his political career ended with a humiliating whimper. He deserves that. It’s that it ended that way because he did one thing that met the absolute minimum standards of decency and integrity.
