In my experience, one component is thinking trans people are "lying", dishonest or deluded -- partially because they can't imagine anybody being "genuinely" trans.

Tell folks to come donate food items. Let them know you'll be there to answer questions about the shutdown. Invite reporters and content creators for interviews. Make it a thing.

I think that, almost by definition, most of the concrete calls-to-action are local, focused, and won't have immediate national visibility.
