Lieutenant General Simon Buckner Jr. led more than 50,000 soldiers and Marines in amphibious landings on Okinawa #TDIH in 1945. The last major and deadliest battle of the Pacific campaign, the American military sought Okinawa as a staging ground for continued bombing and invasion of Japan. #history

FBI Informant Gary Thomas Rowe was implicated in the murder of civil rights activist Viola Liuzzo, who died in March 1965. To protect him from exposure, the FBI launched a smear campaign against Liuzzo to downplay her death. In 1960, the FBI recruited Rowe as an informant within the KKK.

Bebe Rebozo had a relationship to Nixon that in many ways mirrored that of Clyde Tolson and J. Edgar Hoover. Constant companion, best friend and rumored lover. Although Tolson wasn't the criminal Rebozo was. Rebozo was in constant contact with Santos Trafficante and an associate of Carlos Marcello.🗃️

#OTD Dec. 4, 1870: The body of conspirator Michael O’Laughlen was disinterred from the Dry Tortugas. Mike had died of Yellow Fever during the 1867 epidemic and had been buried on Bird Key. His body was shipped back to Baltimore and buried in the family plot at Green Mount Cemetery. #skystorians
