Watch the slow motion: it appears to me that the officers discuss the photographer and reporter before the one on the end fires on them (it looks to me like he's aiming at the camera, not the reporter, but you decide)

Effective therapy is so much more than saying the right words in the right order. Chatbots posing as therapists are dangerous.

Some products "claim to have advanced degrees from specific universities, like Stanford"

Glad the APA is speaking out about this.

Chatbots posing as therapists may encourage users to commit harmful acts, the nation’s largest psychological organization warned federal regulators.

I'm excited and frankly, kinda scared that I've had to do OpSec 101 sessions for a few groups of friends recently.

Know who you are talking to.
Know how you are communicating with them (know the medium).
Know your message, and that it is received.

Know when to distrust, and when its ok.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

Updating the content for my class that starts in a few weeks... Too soon to rename the section 'What is Net Neutrality' to 'What was Net Neutrality'?

This year I biked 3,509 miles. I don't do as many long trips this year, so the majority was commuting to work, the gym and the grocery store. All year it felt like I wasn't riding as much but the small trips all added up. 130,000 calories and 230hrs in the saddle.

"If you aren't investing in AI in your company, you will be left behind."

Two conferences this week, and that was the over-arching theme. Not what cool things you should be doing with AI, not what positives (or negatives) it can help you with, just constant "you better spend money on it.. or else"
