You ever turn an eldritch abomination into a puppy dog?

...Huh. This is starting to look like a game.
Today's focus is going towards making the backend systems work together with a user interface, so all of this won't have to be manual. From there, it's just a matter of adding monster moves and turns, and I've got a playable combat sim!

As for the "citybuilder" side of this project, mentioned here and there, I'm aiming to fill a space that many games in the genre don't touch on; namely, what do you do with monsters you don't keep on your team?
In this game, they get sent to live in a cottagecore town of your design!

It wouldn't be a monster-capture game without some monsters, and every good Witch needs a Familiar or two!
Most of these doodles have been just about getting ideas to paper regardless of detail or unified theme. Once the overall design is a bit more locked in, I'll start posting more detailed shots.

Been mostly getting the backend for combat resources up and running, so that everything is fairly future-proofed. This meant a lot of iteration on code as I learned new ways to restructure it all. Turns out, Custom Resources (or ScriptableObjects) are your friend when making a database of stuff.

To start things off right, here's a look at my current project prototype!
I started on a monster-capture game about a week back, as my first proper foray into coding by hand. I've always enjoyed Pokemon games, so I figured that'd be the best place to start!

Hey everyone! Erika here. First post here after the Great Bluebird Migration (tm).
Using this space to start something fresh and new, and hopefully keep myself coming back to gamedev projects more than I have in the past. So, keep an eye out on this space for progress posts and news!
