The savings thresholds for when Universal Credit entitlement starts getting tapered off (£6,000) and then halted altogether (£16,000) have been set at the same level since 2006.

This means that more and more families are affected every year.

8. Ancient woodlands replaced by saplings in plastic tubes, ancient meadows by a reseeded verge, chalkstreams ... oh, sod the chalkstreams.
As building land is expensive, and farmland much cheaper, any "replacement" habitat will be shifted far from where people live. Goodbye contact with nature.

7. No more ecological site surveys. No more mitigation hierarchy. No more protection of any ecosystem, however rare, valueable, irreplaceable. All a developer needs do is to put up some money to create a new ecosystem somewhere, and job done.

3. Why not? Well, Keir Starmer has been so good as to explain it: these policies came about as a result of his "conversations with leading CEOs”. This is a bill for corporations, not for us. How long will it be before we discover that it was drafted by a Tufton Street junktank?

2. It's an extraordinary thing, this bill, drafted with no input whatever from anyone with environmental expertise. In fact, inputs from professional bodies and scientists working on environmental issues appear to have been systematically struck down. The government does not want this scrutiny.

Why does no one talk about what supports actually help autistic people thrive?

Why is there money for investigations, but not for speech therapy, accessible classrooms, or mental health support?

Why is your future being politicised by people who’ve never sat beside you?

PIP exists because life costs more if you are disabled. Those costs won’t magically disappear because the government decides to squeeze eligibility - disabled people already face a disproportionately high risk of poverty. This plan will push even more disabled people into poverty - not into jobs
🚨Plans to cut welfare benefits for those with extreme disabilities & unfit to work will be CATASTROPHIC for some of the poorest & most vulnerable people in our society

1. You feel powerless? Don’t know what you can do to resist the rise of fascism?
Here is an answer: Good Things.
Fascism inflicts pain and harm as a matter of doctrine.
Kindness, care and conviviality defend us from it.
The more we build community, the less it can take root.
