I gave Atuin a go some months back. At the time, there was something dissonant about the UX that threw me.
I've been giving it another go this morning. And I gotta say, I don't know why I didn't like it before. It's pretty decent!

Cottage Cheese is not actually, in reality, a cheese

It’s just a curd to me

In case you were wondering how long we’ve known that mobility in cities is fundamentally a space problem, this was from Wichita Falls, Texas in 1927.

The streetcar was electric.

And they would need more cars today because of fewer average people in each car.

In cities where there isn’t likely to be investment available for badly needed service improvements AND free fares (sadly, that’s MOST cities), I strongly prefer strategic ridership-focused SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS, along with reasonable fares (and free fares for under 18, over 60, and low income). 3/

“The Unbreakable Law Of Congestion” for the win

Wake up #Ontario. Your government is lying to you. @fordnation is manufacturing problems while financially rewarding his friends.
“We found there’s this perfect one-to-one relationship. If a city increased its road capacity by 10% then driving went up by 10%.” Still one of the best articles on why building bigger roads leads to more driving. Understanding “The Unbreakabke Law Of Congestion” aka #InducedDemand. Via @wired.com
What's Up With That: Building Bigger Roads Actually Makes Traffic Worse
The concept is called induced demand, which is economist-speak for when increasing the supply of something (like roads) makes people want that thing even more. Though some traffic engineers made note ...

My dream interrupted by my alarm, followed by me saying “ah fuck”. Still in that hazy dreamlike state.

I think that’s a first for me.

Well now.
My watch (Garmin, but who cares) just reported a storm alert.
Barely a moment later, it seemed like the birds nearby upped their chirp game.

Circa 1991 I bought a book that I found quite helpful. I don’t quite recall the title, something like:
“The Top 50 vi Commands”
The book’s physical format was a ring-bound, lay-flat binding.
I didn’t memorise everything, but a good number of them did stick.
Will share more if I find the book.

If you like humour and have an appreciation for D&D style adventuring, sit back and give this a read 😁
ADVENTURER: Dragon! We are here for your gold! Prepare to die!
DRAGON: My gold?
ADVENTURER: Yes! We climbed this great mountain, swam it's flooded caverns and-
DRAGON: Fair enough
ADVENTURER: Wait, what?
DRAGON: It's yours
ADVENTURER:
DRAGON: How are you carrying it out of here?
ADVENTURER: Um... /1

Saw someone’s post (didn’t want to pollute their feed with my observation) where they said 24 years ago they were focused on the big Y2K event.
Except that wasn’t 24 years ago.
It was 25 years ago.

Seems there were lasting effects after all, lol

People ask me do you use Mac OSX, Windows, or Linux?

I just reply with I’M SORRY NO I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO GET A REALLY GOOD COMPUTER DEAL
People ask me do you use macOS, Windows or Linux? I just reply with Yes

macOS for desktop
Windows for Gaming
Linux for servers and embedded and pi projects

I use all of them to their strengths. Never understood the zealot mentality. This goes for almost everything.
