NEW: Congress missed its chance to stop the Obamacare premium shock. But it can still undo some of the damage.

@citizencohn.bsky.social explains how a retroactive fix could work, who’s standing in the way, and why every delay means more people lose coverage. lnk.thebulwark.com/4segki6?utm_...

There is no sight that more efficiently puts the lie to immigration “court” than the common sight of children “representing themselves.” Children too small to climb into the chair, children in pajamas who don’t know where they are, children not yet old enough to speak.

“You cannot learn or grow while trying to appear as if you have everything figured out. You cannot talk to God by trying to avoid doing something wrong. Perfection is stagnation,” the concert pianist Jonathan Bliss writes in a guest essay.
Opinion | A Classical Pianist’s Plea: Make Messy Art
It is not only classical musicians who are being stunted by the search for perfection. It is harming many aspects of our lives and sectors of our society.

When I went home to Mississippi last week, a Black farmer welcomed folks to pick greens from his land for free. It made me wonder whether other communities across the country were also giving back ahead of the holiday.

The answer: yes, they are.

The CDC has turned off its vaccine search tool.

The vaccines.gov site now gives an error when you enter a valid zip code.

They also removed text saying “Vaccines can help you stay healthy” and added a banner saying the site is being updated.

Grocery stores are neighborhood anchors — other stores open near grocery stores and they all benefit from increased foot traffic. Or, you can pick up two items you need while you come home from work. Beyond that, one wants to be able to pick their grapefruit or to see the quality of the kale.
Walmart+ costs $13/mo and gives free delivery on orders over $35.

You can get fresh produce in any 'food desert' near-ish to a Walmart, which includes all of Atlanta.
When you are talking about a food desert, the market is definitionally not providing access to food because there is…no store.

A mean speech by an ex official sums up the democratic party’s offensive line pretty succinctly.

Something that must change in Democratic politics is the belief that democracy is “drama.”

Primaries and challenging leadership aren’t “drama,” it’s democracy.

Hesitation to participate in democracy only leads to an erosion of it.

But on issues such as respectability and morality, I think you should judge people by their deeper, more important actions. That doesn't mean how they dress, but how they treat others on a more meaningful level.

I will end with something I wrote five years ago about the messy nature of dress codes.
